Functions of Job
- Provision of strategic direction for the church office, including oversight of all administrative, operational and financial functions;
- Working closely with the Rector to ensure the implementation of St George’s vision, through the establishment and management of teams.
Responsibilities
- Human resource management of office staff;
- In conjunction with the Treasurer, financial oversight of the accounts, including budget management, and payroll;
- Managing the maintenance and upkeep of the church buildings;
- Oversight of internal and external communication, including representing the church to third parties;
- Ensuring IT and operational systems support the efficient running of the office;
- Regular meetings with the Rector and church staff;
- Working closely with the Rector to set operational priorities and ensure the implementation of the church’s vision, through the management of interns, establishment of teams and oversight of events.
Person Specification
Knowledge / Experience
- Experience of managing teams and projects within a dynamic office environment;
- Knowledge of established office systems and procedures;
- Experience of a church environment;
- Experience of carrying out mission and organising outreach events.
Skills / Abilities
- Action-orientated, motivational leader with the ability to lead/build successful teams;
- Ability to communicate effectively with people on all levels;
- Ability to take ownership of, and responsibility for, the work of the office team whilst keeping the Rector abreast of key operational developments;
- IT Skills – a working knowledge of all standard Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Working Requirements
Full time, 35 hours per week; 5 weeks leave per year, pro rata; attendance will be flexible for Christmas and Easter services, but necessary at:
- Weekly staff, services and strategy meetings;
- Any future parish weekend away/day away/church holiday;
- Annual Parochial Church Meeting (April);
- Staff development and training events.
Occasional weekend and evening work may also be necessary – with suitable time off in lieu. We would expect the successful applicant to become a regular worshipper at St George’s, Holborn.
